How Good is Raft Biking?

raftingbike15Well, naturally we know the answer to that one.

It really is a great day out and we have worked very hard over the years to make it as enjoyable as possible.  For participants the day is exciting and different yet it is very relaxing and fun too.

But why take our word for it?

Here are some recent quotes about Bike Rafting in Tenerife taken from around the web:

From Bike Rafting – A ‘Must Do’ Tenerife Activity in Tenerife Tattle

The pace is easy and relaxed. For most of the time brakes are applied to keep behind the guide but now and then there is a steep downhill slope followed by an uphill surge where all brakes are off and you pelt down hell-for leather in order to maintain the momentum to get you back up the rise without pedalling. It is totally exhilarating.

While the bike riding is the main event there is more to the day than that alone. Owner Mauricio and guide Thomas have the route so carefully planned that they have interesting stories to tell on each stop.  They also play off each other like an old comedy team and you have to keep a careful eye on Mauricio to know when he is pulling your leg. On the rare occasion when  the group of bikers is required to cross lanes of traffic Mauricio positioned his van and trailer across the road like a mother hen  spreading her wings  while her chicks scampered to safety on the other side.

The scenery was not restricted to the rural lansdscape either. We flew though the villages where the locals waved and bid us “Buenas Dias!” and then on down to just past La Escalona where we stopped for a drink and traditional Spanish nibbles. From there it was small sideroads all the way down to the highway into Los Cristianos and the day finish with a gallop along the beachfront and an explosive surprise from Mauricio.

Bike rafting
We have just returned from a week in Tenerife where we went bike rafting.
Now, I dont like exercise but this was a free wheel ride from about 2500m above sea level down to the sea. Took us about 2 and half hours. Hardly any pedalling just alot of braking.
The guys picked us up from our hotel and then drove us all the way to the edge of the crater. Then we got sorted with bike helmets and reflective jackets. We had a lead cyclist and a back up vehicle.
After a few tips on road rules and what the team do to allow passing vehicles, we were off
There were 14 of us – dutch, english, german and russian.
We had a couple of drinks stops and the guys gave us some tapas half way down.
Great day out and easy enough for all abilities.
Cost for 3 was 120 euros.

If you have been Bike Rafting recently, please leave a comment to let others know about your day. We’d love to hear about it.

This was our third time this week (August ‘09) and I don’t think it will be the last, it is one of our favourite activities in Tenerife. It is so well organised, safe and great fun. Probably the best thing is seeing part of the ‘real’ Tenerife, some of the most beautiful views, scenery and villages. The team are so knowledgeable about their country too and if you are interested have endless stories and information to share. Our youngest son was ‘Champion’ he is ten.

We recommend it to all for a bit of adventure and good fun family time together. It is worth every penny of the price and will be full of life lasting memories. We would suggest you just do it.

Thanks to all for the time, thought and energy put into it and enjoy your 10th Anniversary at the end of the year

Thank you, thank you so much. I wish you could feel as good as I feel when I read comments like yours.
After all, I am so lucky to be thanked for doing something that I enjoy doing!
    ;-) Mauricio

Thank you so much for our recent trip. Mauricio and his team were very friendly and made us feel welcome straight away. Safety was excellent (with Mauricio blocking the traffic in the town centre while we all took a left turn!). Only our 2nd trip to tenerife but learned so much about the island, got to meet some genuinely nice locals (no offence to the british holidaymakers) and enjoyed every minute of it. Nice touches like surprise nibbles and wine and a nice glass of fizz at the end was the icing on the cake. If you want a great day, meet great people and take in amazing scenery in the sun, try this. You won’t be dissapointed!

    Thanks again,

    Graham (England)

I would love to be telling you how good rafting biking is. I should be doing it right now but I waited for half an hour at our pick up point while the minibus tried to pick us up somewhere else. I´m very disappointed.

  5. Rafting Bikes Tenerife Says:

You are right, we made a mistake, we were looking for you at the wrong place for a half hour as well.
This things happen, although not very often, thank God!
The only thing we could do was to offer apologies, to give you two bikes for free, to use as you wish and to tour the resort, and since you will be flying back before our next excursion, to hope that we can see you again next time you come and treat you specially well to compensate for you disappointment.
See you this evening, when I pick up your bikes!
    Mauricio

  6. Jane Says:

Thanks Mauricio, we did enjoy the free bikes and feel that you did everything that you could to make up for our disappointment. If we return then we shall definitely be coming on a rafting bike trip with you.

We went on the rafting trip in October 2009 – we were collected from our Hotel [Reveron Plaza] and were soon jollying off into the Mountains in our minibus. Initially my other half was not keen on going, only went along as it was my desire, but now he tells everybody what an exciting and educating trip it was. The local knowledge of our tour guides (Mauricio and Thomas] was, for us, an added and unexpected bonus. I would thoroughly recommend this trip to people of all ages and abilities. If you like doing and not sitting in a coach looking out of a window, an especially good trip. We’re going back to Tenerife next year and the first thing we’ll be doing is booking this trip!! I did thank Mauricio personally, however, once again, many thanks, see you in 2010!
